The DC STEM Fair is the longest-running student competition in the District of Columbia. The Secondary DC STEM Fair is open to students in grades 6-12 from DC public, public charter, parochial, private, and home schools. This event brings together students from all eight wards to showcase their ideas and innovations and is a fun experience for the entire family. Please note these key dates:
- Project registration opens: Monday, Jan. 20, 2020
- Project registration deadline: Monday, March 2, 2020
- DC Secondary STEM Fair: Saturday, March 14, 2020
- Awards Ceremony: date and location forthcoming
- DC Elementary STEM Fair (grades 3-5): Saturday, May 30, 2020
Each school can register three projects for this competition. To aid schools in preparing and submitting fair projects, OSSE will host a webinar training, “Getting Ready for the DC Secondary STEM Fair,” to provide an overview of the project submission process, including recent changes, as well as discuss the school’s role in project review. The webinar will also include resources for organizing school fairs and projects. STEM fair leads from each school and LEA should plan to participate in this webinar, which will be offered on multiple dates in January and February 2020. Register
Additionally, the TGR Foundation will host and facilitate professional learning workshops for secondary educators to take place on-site during the STEM Fair. Please fill out this short survey to show interest and provide feedback on desired topics by Friday, Dec. 20, 2019.
