OSSE's Division of Elementary, Secondary, and Specialized Education (ESSE) seeks individuals to serve as volunteer peer reviewers for the Fiscal Year 2017 Charter Schools Program Dissemination grant competition.
The Charter Schools Program Dissemination grant is authorized under Title V, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Through this grant competition, approximately $913,000 will be awarded to high-quality District of Columbia public charter schools to disseminate best practices to other charter and traditional public schools. Eligible charter school applicants must have been open for at least three consecutive years and must have demonstrated success in several areas including increasing student academic achievement.
Reviewers will read and score approximately three to five applications during June 19-30, 2017, and should dedicate between one and three hours to review each assigned application. Reviewers must also be available to participate by phone in a facilitated discussion if there is a wide discrepancy between the scores of the three reviewers assigned to an application. Reviewers will participate on a volunteer basis, not for payment. As applicable, OSSE will work with individual reviewers to provide documentation of public service or volunteer hours.
All reviews will be entered into a web-based EGMS. Each reviewer must have access to a computer, the internet and a phone.
In order to avoid any appearance of potential conflicts of interest, you also will be asked to sign a conflict of interest statement and disclose if you have ever worked for, or contracted with, any public charter school(s) in the District of Columbia or charter management organizations or charter support organizations of any kind associated in any manner with public charter school(s) in the District of Columbia. This information will be used to avoid to the maximum extent possible the appearance of a conflict of interest. You may be contacted for additional information as specific circumstances arise.
If you would like to be considered as a peer reviewer, please email a resume to Brianna Becker at [email protected] no later than Friday, June 2, 2017.
