Description: Participants in this course will identify behaviors that increase the risk of SIDS and sleep related infant deaths, learn ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care settings, and learn how to communicate with parents and other caregivers about safe sleep practices. This course reflects the American Academy of Pediatrics’ revised recommendations for a safe sleep environment.

Description: During this hands-on session, participants will learn how to properly use and store toxic substances in child care settings. Participants will also learn the art and function of a fire extinguisher, basic characteristics of children who show interest in fire, and how to refer a child to the juvenile firesetters program.

Description: Center directors will receive information about how their staff can meet the new CCDBG health and safety training requirements, and how to monitor and track staff progress. Participants will create a professional development plan to ensure compliance.
