GEAR UP DC

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a discretionary grant program, which encourages applicants to provide support and maintain a commitment to eligible low-income students, including students with disabilities, to assist the students in obtaining a secondary school diploma and preparing for and succeeding in postsecondary education. This program started serving the DC GEAR UP cohort of students in their 7th grade year (SY23-24).

GEAR UP DC is designed to prepare students for success in college and beyond by building early awareness, academic readiness, and strong support systems. Through school-based coaching, family engagement, and hands-on experiences, the program helps DC students gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to navigate their postsecondary journey.
