Learning Opportunity for Instructional Leaders

Last Date:

Details:

OSSE invites instructional leaders who currently have a foundational understanding of assessment to participate in a valuable professional learning opportunity. The purpose of this cohort is to build long-term capacity in a cadre of LEA leaders who can then support teachers at their LEAs.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with instructional leaders and assessment experts during in-person workshops that build on the foundational knowledge gained in asynchronous modules. Participants will also extend their learning about assessment and data literacy and how to lead this work at their LEA.

This series of workshops, some in-person and some virtual, will take place between each module, for a total of four workshops. The first in-person workshop will take place on March 7 at OSSE, 1050 First St. NE, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Before and after these workshops, cohort participants may be asked to engage in pre- or post-work, which will not exceed 90 minutes per workshop. In between modules and workshops, office hours will be provided to give clarity and one-on-one support to participants in their experiences with the materials.

Instructional leaders will be supported throughout their work by participating in a cohort throughout the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. Building upon the foundational work to understand assessment design and use of data, over the two school years this cohort will work to implement a rubric for evaluating the local assessments used in their LEAs, and an audit tool for evaluating how the various local assessments work together to create a coherent assessment program. All participants will receive professional learning units (PLUs) for their participation.
