Mayor Bowser to Call on Businesses to Host Student Interns as Part of DC’s Reimagined High School Programming

Washington, DC – On Monday, August 15, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education will encourage employers to host District high school students this upcoming school year as part of the new Advanced Internship Program and highlight other opportunities for students to build career-ready skills. The District is seeking to partner with organizations and businesses to place an additional 200 students for the upcoming school year.

Mayor Bowser and Superintendent Grant will be joined by Dr. Ashanti Carter, Program Director at the George Washington University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences’ Rodham Institute, which hosted two DC high school interns this past spring as part of the Advanced Internship Program. 

Mayor Bowser has invested over $30 million over three years to reimagine work-based learning in the District’s schools.
