Student Privacy and Data Suppression
In November 2020, OSSE released a new Student Privacy and Data Suppression Policy. The goal of the policy is to enhance the quality of both reporting and privacy protections, while also maintaining OSSE’s commitment to public transparency.
Under the new policy, OSSE will no longer report values of 0% or 100% to protect the identities, privacy and personal information for certain student groups. In the 2021-22 school year, Enrollment Audit file, suppression has been applied to data reported on students with disabilities, English learners, at-risk students and students enrolled in schools classified as alternative (“ALT”). These data fields now contain “blurred” data, which appears, for example, as <1% or >99%, to protect individual student identities while also supporting transparency.
