Homeless Education Program MKV Monthly Dialogue Schedule SY22-23

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education’s (OSSE) Homeless Education Program has invited subject matter experts to present on a variety of topics that impact students and families experiencing homelessness. These one-hour monthly webinars are available to homeless liaisons, LEA/school-based staff, and community partners.

Presentations typically take place on the second Wednesday of each month, between October 2022 and May 2023, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Registration links will be added on a rolling basis. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the webinar.

Jan. 11, 2023: Victim Legal Network of DC (VLNDC) & House of Ruth

  • House of Ruth empowers women, children, and families to rebuild their lives and heal from trauma, abuse, and homelessness. Victim Legal Network of DC provides victims of crime with access to 24 different legal service organizations that can provide legal help in a variety of issues including (but not limited to) family law, immigration, and crime victims’ rights. The webinar will take place 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Please register here.

Feb. 8, 2023: OSSE Post-Secondary and Career Education

  • OSSE's Post Secondary and Career Education team will provide information and resources on scholarship programs, completing the 2023-24 FAFSA, and College and Career Readiness opportunities to the high school homeless liaisons supporting their students experiencing homelessness who will be graduating this year. The webinar will take place 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Please register here.

March 8, 2023: The National Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross

  • The Red Cross will provide information to school-based liaisons and community partners, educating them on how to prevent, prepare for, and recover from life-threatening emergencies. The webinar will take place 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Please register here.
