Chief of Staff

Taneka Miller leads the Office of the Chief of Staff as it works across the agency to align teams, remove barriers, and push our critical work forward and out to stakeholders so that the agency stays focused on supporting schools, educators, and students from birth to adulthood. 

She comes to OSSE from a fellow education agency, the University of the District of Columbia. At UDC, she was a member of the senior leadership team as the Vice President for Government, Community and Corporate Relations. There, she built and managed a newly established office to grow government and community partnerships to enable the achievement of the University’s multi-year strategic plan goals. Taneka has served in roles throughout the education cluster, including in DCPS as Deputy General Counsel, General Practice; Executive Director for State and Local Affairs for UDC; Director of Legislative and Government Affairs for DME, and Legislative Counsel on Education and Labor for the DC Council. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Master of Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Juris Doctor from Howard University.
