Invest in Core Infrastructure and Operations

Throughout this period of recovery, we have sought to ensure that OSSE can sustain our ongoing, required operations while simultaneously building out new systems and capacity to support all of our investments and strengthen our data collection and analysis capabilities for the long run.

Key Strategies

We are employing the following strategies to invest in core infrastructure and operations:

  • Build new capacity and systems for OSSE to support recovery: Establish internal systems and bring on new staff capacity to support the management of these federal stimulus funds as well as the design and execution of OSSE’s state-led investments.
  • Sustain core operations of OSSE: Leverage funds to maintain smooth operations of core functions and technology needs such as grants management and software licenses in the face of temporary, local budget cuts.
  • Build course data collection infrastructure: Enable OSSE to begin collecting course-level data and conducting analysis on course-student-teacher linkages by first documenting the current state of data management activities in District schools, then establishing a state course catalog, and finally designing, piloting and implementing a long-term system to collect, store, and manage course codes.
