School Immunization Policy and Resources

To prevent the spread of infectious diseases, all students must be fully immunized. Immunizations are the best defense against some of the most common and sometimes deadly infectious diseases. Students in grades pre-K 3, kindergarten, 7 and 11 will be temporarily excluded from school if they are not up to date on their immunizations. Review this page to guarantee your students are ready for school.

Find resources below for local education agency (LEA) and school leaders, school nurses and immunization points of contact (IPOCs), school registrars and front office staff and families.

Schools may contact their LEA central office or OSSE at [email protected] with questions regarding the immunization policy.

Children’s National is hosting A Family Affair, a community health event for families that include pediatric immunizations on Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Children’s National THEARC West Building at 1801 Mississippi Ave SE. Appointments are highly encouraged.
