Christopher Alberts, Director of Performing Arts and an Instrumental Music Teacher at School Without Walls High School, has been named the 2026 DC Teacher of the Year! A passionate educator and four-time Grammy Music Educator Award nominee, Mr. Alberts inspires students through joyful, rigorous, and culturally rich music education. From orchestra to digital music production, he creates transformative learning experiences that empower students to grow, lead, and connect with the world through the arts.
Hats off to Mr. Alberts and the entire School Without Walls community!
As the 2026 DC Teacher of the Year, Mr. Alberts will represent DC in the Council of Chief State School Officers National Teacher of the Year program and advocate for students and arts education on a national stage.
