Start of School Key Dates

Below are the key dates and deadlines that your LEA should know about in order to prepare for a successful start of school with OSSE. If you haven’t already, we recommend that you first take a look at the 2019-20 Start of School Checklist for LEA Leaders.

Training April 29 Early Access Applications Training on LEA responsibility for administering the OSSE Home Language Survey to all newly enrolling students. Register
Release April 29 Duplicative Enrollment Publication of the Duplicative Enrollment Policy.
Training April 30 Early Access Applications Training on federally-required LEA responsibilities for screening and placement of English learners. Register
Training May 1 Early Access Applications Training on features of program models for serving English learners effectively. Register
Deadline May 3 Data Create summer 2019 extended school year (ESY) calendar in eSchoolPLUS.
Training May 15 Early Access Applications A refresher and overview of the Early Access to Students with Disabilities Data Application will be provided during the monthly one-hour webinar for all LEA Special Education Points of Contact (LEA SE POCs). Register
Deadline May 31 Transportation Submit calendar information in the new Transportation Online Tool for Education (TOTE 2.0) for each school under your LEA with transportation-eligible students.
Deadline June 3 Transportation Submit Transportation Request Forms (TRFs) for eligible returning students, including students attending non-public schools in TOTE 2.0.
Training June 6 Data All new LEA Data Managers should attend orientation; session will cover expectations, data collection, data systems, and processes. Register
Deadline June 10 Data Complete LEA Data Mapping (LDM) tool.
Training June 11 Start of School Readiness Register for and attend the 2019 Start of School Summit to hear important updates, learn about policy changes that impact the start of school, and receive critical trainings on topics like data, the enrollment audit, serving English learners and students with disabilities, and transportation.
Deadline June 14 Data Create 2019-20 school year calendars in eSchoolPLUS.
Deadline June 14 Funding - Federal Submit Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) elections for the National School Lunch Program
Training July 19 Nutrition Attend one of the federally-required annual National School Lunch Program trainings. Register
Release July 31 Early Access Applications Check English Learner (EL) Qlik application for release of the 2018-19 school year ACCESS scores.
Training Aug. 1 Data Orientation for new LEA Data Managers; session will cover expectations, data collection, data systems, and processes. Register
Training Aug. 1 Data Orientation of LEA Feed Management; session will allow LEAs to view the status of the daily enrollment, demographics, contacts, attendance and adult program data feeds from the LEA student information system (SIS) to OSSE and assist LEAs in troubleshooting problems with the feeds. Register
Release Aug. 1 Duplicative Enrollment Publication of the 2019-20 Duplicative Enrollment Application Technical Guide.
Training Aug. 2 Nutrition Attend one of the federally-required annual National School Lunch Program trainings. Register
Training Aug. 5 Duplicative Enrollment Attend training on the new Duplicative Enrollment application. Register
Training Aug. 5 Start of School Readiness

Attend the 2019 Start of School Makeup Summit for an abbreviated version of the June 11 Summit content geared toward new LEA POCs. Trainings will include important updates, learn about policy changes that impact the start of school, and receive critical trainings on topics like data, the enrollment audit, serving English learners and students with disabilities, and transportation.

Registration will launch in late June 2019.
