Special Announcements
Educator Credential Extensions
OSSE has been authorized to extend the validity of an OSSE-issued educator credential that would otherwise expire during the COVID-19 Emergency Period. The “COVID-19 Emergency Period” means the period during which the public health emergency declared by the Mayor is in effect and 45 days thereafter. The end date of this extension will be announced here once determined. View additional details in the Guidance Related to Coronavirus (COVID-19): Educator Credential Application Extension Processes.
New! Praxis Tests at Home
Registration and testing information for the Praxis Tests at Home is now available. This option allows individuals to take most Praxis tests remotely at home or in another secure location. For more information, please visit the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website at ets.org/s/cv/praxis/the-americas.
PCMAS Policy Guidance
During the COVID-19 Emergency Period, OSSE will accept scores on the Spanish-language teacher licensing basic skills exam, Prueba para la Certificación de Maestros (PCMAS), from applicants that receive a pass for the multiple-choice portion of the exam. View additional details in the Guidance Related to Coronavirus (COVID-19): Prueba para la Certificación de Maestros (PCMAS) Scoring.
School-based Health Professionals
OSSE recommends that school-based health professionals practicing as audiologists, counselors, social workers, speech language pathologists and psychologists who are currently employed at a DC public charter school or private school, contact the applicable professional licensing board within the DC Department of Health for information regarding licensing requirements to operate in those facilities.
