Washington, DC – The District of Columba State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will review recommendations to the high school physical and health education graduation requirements. The suggestions for board deliberation in the subject area include:
- Increasing PE/Health unit requirements for graduation,
- Spreading units over multiple years,
- Proposing adjuncts to school-based instruction for meeting physical activity needs, and
- Ensuring all schools have qualified physical education instructors on staff and access to content that promotes learning.
The board would also like to receive public input as to whether participation in a varsity sport should contribute to course accumulation.
