THE WILSON BUILDING - ROOM 412
Washington, DC – The District of Columba State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will hold a public meeting to discuss 100 hours of community service as a high school graduation requirement. Community service was mandated by the Board of Education in 1992 as a high school graduation requirement under DCMR Title 5, Chapter 22, Section 2203.2. The Board is considering modifying the requirement as part of the Board’s yearlong review of graduation requirements at the request of Superintendent Hosanna Mahaley with an eye to ensuring students are prepared for college, career and life in today’s global economy. The Board invites all students, parents, and educators to provide testimony.
The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 412 of the Wilson Building, located at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
Constituents who wish to comment at the meeting are required to notify the staff in advance by contacting the Office of the DC State Board of Education by phone at (202) 741-0888 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Please provide one electronic copy in advance and bring fifteen copies to the hearing for the State Board members to view.
The meeting will air live on District Knowledge Network (DKN) Comcast Channel 99, RCN Channel 18, and Fios Channel 12.
