Charter School Program Dissemination of Best Practices: AppleTree

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Every Child Ready is a comprehensive instructional model that drives how to teach, what to teach, and how to tell its being done to increase teacher effectiveness and children’s learning in early childhood classrooms. Every Child Ready was developed by AppleTree Institute in partnership with AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School through a federal Investing in Innovation (i3) grant. In the 2011-12 school year, AppleTree Early Learning PCS implemented Every Child Ready at its seven sites in Washington, DC.

With funding from the OSSE Dissemination grant, AppleTree has expanded Every Child Ready to additional classrooms in Washington, DC in subsequent school years. In the 2013-14 school year, AppleTree partnered with Center City, DC Scholars, Early Childhood Academy, Ingenuity Prep, Potomac Lighthouse, Tree of Life, and the United Planning Organization to implement elements of AppleTree’s Every Child Ready instructional model in their early childhood classrooms. Dissemination Grant funds supported the implementation of Every Child Ready resources, tools, and products in partner classrooms to ensure more children enter kindergarten with the social, emotional, and cognitive foundations they need for school success.
