In this introductory, 2-hour training, educators will explore different aspects of school culture that impact LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer) students. From learning correct terminology to best practices for working with youth, educators will walk away with improved cultural competency for addressing the needs of the LGBTQ+ community in schools. The workshop is intended for educators, school administrators, social workers, and counselors serving in public and public charter schools in the District of Columbia who are interested in learning more about supporting LGBTQ+ students. Participants will earn two professional learning units (PLUs) for full attendance.
