OSSE to Provide Free GED Test Preparation to District Residents

Monday, September 15, 2014
The See for Free program helps adult learners determine exam readiness
(Washington, DC) -- In celebration of the upcoming National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, the District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) announced its commitment to expanding access to educational opportunities for the city’s adult learners. During the week of September 22 to October 3, 2014, the District’s GED® Program Testing Center will offer free GED Ready™ practice tests to all District residents through the See for Free program.

“Data shows that practice tests are highly predictive of how someone will score on the actual GED test,” said GED Administrator Philip PremDas. “We believe it is critical to offer this opportunity to the residents of the District as we encourage more adult learners to pursue their academic and professional goals.”

The official GED Ready™ practice test offered through the See for Free program is not the same as the free practice test available online. Students who take advantage of the program through OSSE can:

  • Preview and practice with the content and technology that will be part of the 2015 GED® test
  • Practice with a half length test instead of a quarter length test
  • Assess if they are ready to take the official test
  • See the specific skills needed to pass the test
  • Receive an instant score upon completion of the test
  • Receive a personalized study plan based on their practice test results

Students can also learn about classes and other resources to help them prepare for the GED® test. Interested District residents should schedule a free practice test by calling 202-274-7173. The GED Program Testing Center is located at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street NW, Suite 370N.
