The updated edition of the District of Columbia Early Learning Standards is a response to the evolution of the standards movement in early care and education throughout the country.

Parents of English language learners (ELLs) are disadvantaged when helping their children in school because they often do not speak English. Many immigrant parents desire to learn English, yet research shows adult English programs have high attrition rates.

Special education points of contact (POCs) who complete the items in the attached document will assist their LEAs in preparing to serve incoming students with disabilities (SWDs) and ensure that both staff and students experience a great start to for the 2020-21 school year.

An updated checklist for school test coordinators to use as a guide in their preparation for testing is now available. The checklist has been updated from last year's version to reflect new test design (e.g. single test window) and new links to 2016 resources.

This is a resource for providers serving families with children and youth with special health care needs to help them know and understand the complex array of services and supports within the DC system.
