Field trip season – March through November for outdoor visits; January through February for greenhouse visits.
Days/times site is open for field trips – Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Grade levels welcome – Pre-K to college
Length of field trips – 60-90 minutes; varies according to age, size of group & areas of interest.
Travel time from downtown DC – One hour
Student:Chaperone ratio – 15:1
Protocol for inclement weather – Reschedule
Cost of field trip – Sliding scale, suggested fee of $50-100 depending on type of visit.
Lunch – Students are invited to join Red Wiggler staff for lunch at noon. Red Wiggler does not provide food.
Dress code – Sturdy long pants, closed-toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing.
Type of farm – A non-profit, certified organic farm that provides meaningful employment to adults with developmental disabilities as well as opportunities for the public to volunteer and learn about sustainable farming and the importance of inclusion.
Wheelchair accessible – All indoor program spaces and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Field tours can be accessible but any organization bringing folks who have compromised ability to walk on uneven ground should consult with Red Wiggler staff before reserving trip.
