Session I reviews Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2004 (IDEA) as they relate to discipline. Also reviewed is the legal definition of a removal, what constitutes a change in placement, and manifestation determinations. These resources provide guidance for local education agencies (LEAs) to understand  legal requirements and to ensure compliance with the federal law.
