National External Diploma Program (NEDP)

AFE provides state oversight of the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) and works in collaboration with the DC Public Schools which runs three of the District’s eight NEDP sites. The NEDP is managed by the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS).

The NEDP allows adults to demonstrate their high school level skills by applying their life and work experiences in real life contexts. Each candidate must demonstrate one hundred percent mastery of the 70 NEDP competencies that are aligned to the College and Career Readiness standards. A list of NEDP competencies is available on the CASAS website.

The District of Columbia has eight NEDP sites:

  • Academy of Hope (Ward 5)
