Health & Wellness Liaisons Program: 2016-17 Year Review

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education’s (OSSE) Division of Health and Wellness established its Health and Wellness Liaison Program (HWLP) in 2016 in response to the expressed need for on-site support by schools and early care and education (ECEs) centers in health education, physical education/activity, school health services, and nutrition educational services. The HWLP helps streamline foundational principles and skills that fall within the Division's federal and locally-funded health-related programs and align with the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model.

Thirteen Liaisons were selected from undergraduate and graduate schools to assist key staff in coordinating professional development trainings, facilitating partnerships with external providers to offer resources and technical assistance, assisting with the completion of requested health and wellness surveys and instruments, and implementing health policies and standards in schools and ECEs.
