The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) Division of Teaching and Learning invites educators, school leaders, and counselors to register for an all-day professional development on supporting students with immigrant backgrounds. Participants will receive guidance and support to implement evidence-based practices to support immigrant students and families in their schools and communities. During this training, we will focus on:

  • Understanding immigrant students’ rights and exploring DC policies specific to undocumented youth,
  • Practicing social-emotional strategies to increase school climate and culture,
  • Identifying instructional approaches to promote opportunities for collaboration in the classroom, and
  • Providing tools for parent and community engagement.
