OSSE is pleased to announce its next session in the 2019-20 Special Topics in English Learner Programming Monthly Webinar Series, which is held on the second Thursday of each month. All LEA and school-level English Learner Points of Contact (EL POCs), as well as school leaders and teachers, are invited to participate in September’s session, which will provide an overview of major court cases and federal legislation that have shaped current EL programming in public schools in the United States. Specifically, this webinar will describe why public schools identify ELs, provide a high-quality language instructional educational program, assess their language growth, and educate them in inclusive settings. Participants will:
- Receive an overview of landmark court cases and legislation that paved the way for English learner rights
- Learn the key issues, historical context, and rulings behind each legal action
- Understand the outcomes of the cases that are germane to the work of EL POCs.
Register - registration is required.
