Restorative Justice Practices for Younger Learners

Next Date:
Thursday, January 25, 2018 -
8:30am to 12:00pm

New OSSE Headquarters
1050 First St. NE
Fifth Floor Conference Room

In order for restorative practices to be effective for young learners, restorative practitioners must consider the developmental range of children in grades K-6, and must accommodate a younger learner's attention span, energy level, learning style, and expressive and receptive language capacity. This experiential workshop for teachers, administrators, school staff, and early education workers will translate restorative practices to the primary school classroom by adapting proactive and responsive approaches to the developmental stages of K-6 students.
This workshop is open to teachers, administrators, and school staff serving students in grades K-6 in District of Columbia public and public charter schools. The workshop will take place on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m., at the New OSSE Headquarters, 1050 First St. NE, Fifth Floor Conference Room. Participants are strongly encouraged to participate in a related training, Drama and Games for Social Emotional Learning, to be held in the afternoon on the same day in the same location. See separate training announcement for more details.
