OSSE invites Science/STEM grades K-5 teachers and instructional coaches to participate in a professional development learning around deepening reading comprehension of scientific texts. In this session, participants will:

  • Explore methodologies for improving reading comprehension in support of the intersection between the Common Core English Language Arts and Next Generation Science Standards,
  • Engage with a research-based approach, Novel Engineering, in order to integrate engineering and literacy in the middle grades,
  • Implement literacy skills using Common Core aligned complex texts as the context for engineering problems.

Participants will receive three professional learning units (PLUs) for participating.

Space is limited, early registration is strongly encouraged.
