OSSE invites Science/STEM grades K-5 teachers and instructional coaches to participate in a professional development learning around deepening reading comprehension of scientific texts. In this session, participants will:
- Explore methodologies for improving reading comprehension in support of the intersection between the Common Core English Language Arts and Next Generation Science Standards,
- Engage with a research-based approach, Novel Engineering, in order to integrate engineering and literacy in the middle grades,
- Implement literacy skills using Common Core aligned complex texts as the context for engineering problems.
Participants will receive three professional learning units (PLUs) for participating.
