OSSE’s Division of Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce a half-day professional development training for pre-K through grade 12 dual language teachers, teacher leaders, and instructional coaches. This training will provide guidance about research-based practices to plan and deliver instruction for biliteracy.
Participants will be able to:
- Identify the three moments of instruction in a dual language program: English, targeted language, and cross-language connections,
- Gain in-depth understanding of biliteracy, bilingualism, and cultural competency in a bilingual instructional model,
- Explore instructional approaches to plan, deliver, and monitor units of learning for bilingual instruction, and
- Share experiences, knowledge, and resources with professionals working in dual language programs in DC schools.
Registration is limited. Participants will have the opportunity to choose one of the two dates available for this training and will be eligible to earn OSSE professional learning units (PLUs).
