Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Formative Assessment Professional Development

Join OSSE for a four-session series focused on formative assessments in K-12 science classrooms. Participants will learn how to leverage the STEM Teaching Tools to approach the design of NGSS-aligned formative assessment tasks. This training will feature professional development modules designed as part of the ACCESS 50 project, funded by the National Science Foundation. This program is designed for K-12 science teachers and science curriculum leads. Participants have the option of registering for each half-day course individually or the entire series.

All in-person sessions will be held at OSSE on the following dates:

  • Monday, May 7, 2018, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m - Introduction to Formative Assessmen
  • Monday, May 7, 2018, 1-4 p.m. - How to assess 3-dimensional learning in the NGSS classroo
  • Monday, May 14, 2018, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. - Making Science Instruction Compelling for All Students: Using Cultural Formative Assessment to Build on Learner Interest and Experienc
  • Monday, May 14, 2018, 1-4 p.m. - How to Craft 3D Classroom Science Assessments
