Description: We often hear that teachers and educational leaders must do more to “close the achievement gap,” but how should this be accomplished? This session addresses the root causes of the disparity between children’s educational success. To close the achievement gap, we must recognize the power of word knowledge (vocabulary); it is the key to text comprehension and reading success.
This session provides research-based strategies so teachers will be able to support the language and literacy needs of children.
