The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is pleased to announce the sixth Annual DC Parent and Family Engagement Summit will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Breakfast and lunch will be served. The event is FREE for all DC parents and families to attend.
Information provided at the summit will engage families as partners in education and provide support and resources to ensure families have access to high-quality education for their children, in accordance with the parental engagement provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, as updated by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
The summit will provide an opportunity for parents and families to:
- Learn how to actively engage in the education process,
- Participate in meaningful group discussions with OSSE and other parents and families to build capacity and stay engaged in their children's education, and
- Strengthen relationships through two-way communication to achieve greater social and educational outcomes for students
Please encourage parents and family members to register for this event.
