SBOE Student Representatives

The application period for the Student Representative to the DC State Board is now open. All Student Representative Applications [PDF] must be received by the DC State Board of Education by the close of business on Friday, July 29, 2011.

The State Board of Education’s Student Representative act as a liaison between the student population of the District of Columbia and education policy makers. This role assists with the development of student led decisions, provides access for students to the Board, and allows the voices of those whom the Board represents to be heard.

The ability to inject student outlooks into a largely adult directed educational system is invaluable to the State Board of Education and the greater learning communities within the District of Columbia. The State Board of Education recognizes the important role in involving students in the political process that ultimately influence all students in the District of Columbia regardless of age, location and learning format.
