Green Ribbon School Program

US Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools recognizes schools taking a comprehensive approach to greening their school. OSSE is the nominating authority for District schools, DCPS, and Institutions of Higher Education. All applicants for the ED-GRS Award must submit an application to OSSE for review. OSSE will then nominate up to four District schools for consideration. Selection will be based on documentation of the applicant's high achievement in the three ED-GRS Pillars: Pillar I: Reduce environmental impact and costs. Pillar II: Improve the health and wellness of students and staff. Pillar III: Provide effective environmental and sustainability education. A network of District agencies and organizations will support schools through this process. In order to receive support, please send a brief email indicating your intent to apply to Grace Manubay, Environmental Literacy Coordinator, by October 16, 2015. Applications are due on January 15, 2016.
