Federal Appropriation: $10 billion
OSSE’s Award Amount: $37.6 million
Purpose: The Title I, Part A program provides financial assistance to LEAs and schools with high numbers or high percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Recovery Act funds create new opportunities for educators to implement innovative strategies in Title I schools that improve education for at-risk students and close achievement gaps while also stimulating the economy.
Grant Type: Formula
Sub-Recipients: Local educational agencies (LEAs) receive Title I, Part A Stimulus funds. LEA eligibility is determined according to the statutory eligibility criteria established in sections 1125(a)(1) and 1125A(c) of the ESEA for the Targeted and Education Finance Incentive Grant formulas of Title I, Part A and the DC School Reform Act of 1995.
