DC GEAR UP - For Parents

One of the five components of DC GEAR UP is parental involvement.  This section of our website is dedicated to the parents of our students.  In this section you will find information about upcoming cohort wide activities, links to your student's Sector Page, and important forms.

Cohort-wide Activities

This year the Spring Break College tour will be offered.  Students will have the opportunity to travel to a number of Colleges and Universities, meet with admissions officers, attend tours, and participate in other planned activities.  Please check back for more details as they are released.

Sector Pages

You may be wondering what a “Sector” is and which one your student is in. When the first cohort of DC GEAR UP students were identified during the 2002-2003 school year, they attended the same five Middle/Junior High Schools: Ronald H. Brown Middle School, J.H. Johnson Junior High School, MacFarland Middle School, Paul Public Charter School, and Terrell Junior High School. When they entered high school, the students spread out to a number of different schools. The sectors were created based largely on the original groupings of students. To determine which sector your student is in, simply find his/her school in the table below, and follow the link to the corresponding Sector. We also encourage you to talk with your student.  Ask them which Coordinators they work with most often.
