OSSE Issues Request for Applications for Charter School Support Services Grant (CS³ Grant)

Thursday, May 12, 2011
The RFA will be released May 13

OSSE’s Office of Public Charter School Financing and Support (OPCSFS) announces that the Request for Applications (RFA) for the Charter School Support Services Grant (CS³ Grant) will be released on May 13, 2011.

The OPCSFS seeks to increase the availability of high-quality support services for public charter schools in the District through the CS³ grant. This grant is intended to fund eligible organizations to:

  1. Scale-up high-quality support services currently provided to public charter schools in the District (“scale-up projects”)  or,
  2. Fund the development of new services not currently or adequately provided within the District’s charter sector (“development projects”).

Eligible organizations are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, incorporated in the District, that provide or will provide support services to public charter schools. For the purposes of this grant, support services include those services that will increase the capacity of public charter schools to offer a high-quality education to their students. Support services exclude all facilities related services and direct academic services to students such as tutoring, special education direct service provision, and other supplemental education services.  All eligible organizations must be able to demonstrate the public charter school need for their support services within their application.

Prospective applicants must submit a complete application to OSSE on or before 5 pm on Monday, June 13, 2011.  Applications must be submitted in person to the OSSE and electronically to [email protected], according to the instructions included in the application.  Any application received on or after 5:01 pm on Monday, June 13, 2011 will not be considered for review, with no exceptions or extensions.

All applicants are required to participate in one of the upcoming pre-application conferences. The pre-application conferences will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm and Monday, May 23, 2011 from 10 am to 11 am.

Contact Jessica Sutter ([email protected] or 202-741-5538) with questions or requests for additional assistance with the application.
