More than 100 volunteers from local universities, STEM professional organizations, research groups and STEM employers will judge the projects and choose the top three, which will advance to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, held in Phoenix, Arizona in May.

The daylong festivities include a STEM Expo where students, parents and teachers can participate in hands-on STEM activities. The event also features for the first time a mini-maker fair where participants can engage in a variety of do-it-yourself projects, such as making personalized, flavored lip balm from scratch. Finally, for educators, the DC STEM Fair will feature a professional development opportunity, co-sponsored by the Tiger Woods Foundation, for about 100 District teachers.
