Elected Members of the DC State Board of Education to Be Sworn In

The new members were elected to vacant seats in Wards 4 and 8.

(Washington, DC) – Two newly elected members to the DC State Board of Education will be sworn in at 5:30 pm on May 18, 2011, at a ceremony to be held in the Old Council Chambers at Judiciary Square shortly before the monthly scheduled Board Public Meeting.

The new members were elected to the State Board seats in a special election held to fill the terms remaining on two vacant seats for the District of Columbia Wards 4 and 8.

The new members, D. Kamili Anderson was elected to the Ward 4 seat vacated by Sekou Biddle who was appointed to fill the At Large Council seat vacated by the current Council Chair, Kwame Brown. Trayon White was elected to the Ward 8 seat that became vacant at the untimely passing of William Lockridge late last year.

The Honorable Muriel Bowser, Council member of the District of Columbia for Ward 4, and the Honorable Marion Barry, former Council Chair and current Council member of the District of Columbia for Ward 8 will be performing the Oath of Office for each member respectively.
