District of Columbia Homeschooling Program

The District of Columbia has a statutory responsibility to assure that children between the ages of five and seventeen, residing in the District of Columbia, receive an education.  The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) seeks to offer parents and legal guardians a choice to provide a thorough and regular education in a home schooling program.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education reminds all parents wishing to home school their children that they must submit an Intent to Home School form annually for the coming school year by August 15th. The form is currently available online and must be submitted at least 15 days prior to withdrawl from any school before home instruction begins. Select the link below, print the form, and submit it to:

Office of the State Superintendent of Education, Home School Office
810 First Street, NE, 5th Floor
Washington, DC  20002
