The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is pleased to announce the Statewide Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)- Pre- Kindergarten training (Pre-K). With the goal of increasing the number of high quality early learning programs that meet the academic and social developmental needs of all Pre-K students in comprehensive and enriching environments, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education in partnership with District of Columbia Public School (DCPS) and The Public Charter School Board (PCSB) will implement a statewide CLASS evaluation to all Pre-K classrooms starting January 2014.
In an effort to prepare and support the Early Learning Community for the statewide CLASS evaluation, OSSE in partnership with Teachstone will facilitate a series of face-to-face and online introductory CLASS trainings for Pre-k teachers, administrators, principals and instructional support staff. These trainings will provide an overview of the CLASS domains and dimensions, various uses of the tool, and the importance of effective teacher-child interactions for children’s learning.
