Recognized by the US Department of Education (ED) as “one of the most comprehensive and commendable” parent and family outreach efforts in the nation, Passport to Excellence is a day-long event designed to empower, inform and inspire parents by providing an update on the implementation of the State Education Plan, and through a host of workshops and exhibits, vital information and community resources geared towards promoting successful educational outcomes for their children.
This year, parents will have the opportunity to:
- Attend workshops on topic areas such as bullying prevention, understanding the State Report Card, becoming their child's first teacher and how to use OSSE's exciting new resource, LearnDC;
- Gain first-hand knowledge on how feedback parents provided last year has been implemented into the State Education Plan; and
- Engage community organizations and providers about programs and resources available for students and families.
