OSSE is hosting an Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) Forum, specifically designed to assist charter school personnel in learning more about RSA’s mission and processes and to facilitate increased collaborative relationships between RSA and DC charter schools. The IDEA and OSSE’s Secondary Transition Policy requires LEAs to invite representatives from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) to participate in the secondary transition IEP planning process for students with disabilities ages 16 and older (with parent or adult student consent) whenever RSA will be likely to provide or pay for transition services for a student with a disability who is age 16 or older (34 CFR §300.321(b)).
Participants in the forum will:
- Discover new resources that RSA has recently produced to assist educators, families, and students throughout the transition planning process, including the new Youth in Transition Toolkit, available at http://dctransition.org/rsa/index.cfm
- Learn how educators and schools can support students and RSA throughout the eligibility determination process
- Review the roles and responsibilities that RSA’s Transition Specialist and Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists play in supporting youth
