Next Generation Assessments Stakeholder Meeting
In gearing up for the transition to the district wide Next Generation Assessments (NGA), OSSE is holding monthly NGA meetings with DC education stakeholders. The Next Generation Assessments include computer-based and paper-based assessments in reading, composition, math, science, health, English language proficiency and our alternative assessment. NGA are aligned to the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards and/or applicable DC Learning Standards. The goal of these meetings will be to partner as we move forward with the NGA transition, specifically by communicating status and progress of the assessments, discussing any potential issues, and vetting policies. In this conversation, we are placing a strong emphasis on the input of all of our stakeholders and so invite you to participate, even if your LEA or organization does not administer the current state tests.
July's meeting will follow up on finalizing assessment windows and testing modes, introduce changes to the resources available on OSSE's website, and spend the most time on high school PARCC policy.
