Join the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education for a series of community meetings to discuss education related topics.
Community Presentation at Phoebe Hearst PTA Meeting: Elementary and Secondary Education Act
In 2011, only 25 of 187 schools assessed under DC CAS made student proficiency targets in both reading and math under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), commonly known as No Child Left Behind. In two years the law requires that 100% of students be proficient in both math and reading. The District of Columbia has the opportunity to request flexibility in implementing certain ESEA requirements, both to more accurately rate schools and to outline a comprehensive plan for targeting rewards and support to schools based on their ratings. In early February, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education will visit the Phoebe Hearst PTA meeting to inform the public of what OSSE's application means for teachers, students, and parents.
Come Out and Learn How OSSE's application will:
-Change the District of Columbia's School Accountability System
-Redefine measurements of school success
-Impact how OSSE resources and support are targeted to local schools
