Trayon White

SBOE Board Member, Trayon White

Trayon White is a native Washingtonian and a proud graduate of Ballou Senior High School.  Mr. White is passionate about his community and has a strong desire to improve the quality of education in his neighborhood and throughout the city.  He is one of the newest members of the District of Columbia State Board of Education after winning the Special Election in April 2011.

Mr. White began his role as a community activist in the District of Columbia while working with East of the River Clergy Police Community Partnership, where he served as an Outreach Coordinator.  In November 2007, Mr. White founded a nonprofit, Helping Inner City Kids Succeed (HICKS, Inc.), where he used his life experiences to show young adults pathways to successful living.  

Mr. White is also passionate about sports.  He volunteers his time to coaching and devotes his talents to helping students reach their maximum potential both in and out of school.  He has served as a coach with Number 11 Boys and Girls Club little league football.  His favorite quote is John Maxwell’s, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

Mr. White is a graduate of the University of Maryland – Eastern Shore.  He and his wife are the proud parents of a son, Trayon Jr.
