Ted Trabue

SBOE President, Ted Trabue

Ted Trabue is the President of the District of Columbia State Board of Education. In January 2011, he was elected to his second term as the board’s president.  Mr. Trabue was appointed to the DC State Board of Education in 2007.  In November 2008, he was elected to the At-Large Seat on the DC State Board of Education, receiving over 145,000 votes.

Mr. Trabue also serves as the Executive Director of the District of Columbia Economic Empowerment Coalition and the Co-Founder of the Green Builders Council of the District of Columbia.  Prior to his current position, he was the vice president for District of Columbia Affairs at PEPCO.  Mr. Trabue has worked at the Greater Washington Board of Trade as Staff Director for Critical Issues for the District of Columbia and Maryland.  Prior to joining the Board of Trade, Mr. Trabue served as Chief of Staff for Council Chairman Linda Cropp.

Mr. Trabue is a fourth generation Washingtonian and like his mother and grandmother, he attended District of Columbia Public Schools.  He graduated from St. John’s High School, received a degree in Economics from Dartmouth College and a law degree from Howard University School of Law.  Mr. Trabue is a member of the DC Bar and serves on the boards of directors of the DC Chamber of Commerce, DC Appleseed and DC VOICE.

Mr. Trabue is married to Tracey Ward Trabue.  They have two children, Justin and Teddy III.  The family resides in Ward Four.
